Congratulations to our partner Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank (MCFB). They welcomed their participants on Sept. 17 to their first golf tournament, held at San Marcos Resort, in what they plan to be an annual event. They are very pleased with the financial results in sufficient fundraising to provide meals for 4,000 people. The weather cooperated, and a great time was had by all. MCFB, supported by its corporate sponsors, was successful in meeting its financial objectives for the event. If you participated, your Sun Lakes partner Reach Out Sun Lakes, a partner of MCFB, thanks you so much for helping them to have great success with their first golf outing. We look forward to their 2026 event.
We have a request for you. Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away. MCFB is planning for a record demand this year for food by their clients. Their food distribution day for Thanksgiving will take place on Saturday, Nov. 22. Clients will provide the demand. The other component of the equation is supply. Please help us to meet and exceed our goals for Sun Lakes to assist MCFB to have an adequate supply to meet the anticipated demand. A $25 donation provides a nourishing and healthy Thanksgiving meal for a family. Acquisition of food through MCFB’s sources allows for thrifty acquisition of food, even at this time of significant food cost increases.

The Reach Out Sun Lakes team is very grateful for our ongoing organizational partners who provide monthly financial and food support to MCFB. They are the Contract Bridge Club, Unity Church of Sun Lakes, the Corvette Club, the Sun Lakes Democratic Club, the Democratic Club of Chandler, Sun Lakes Country Club, and the United Church of Christ. On a year-to-date basis, the generous members of these organizations have contributed 1,638 pounds of food and $2,600 to Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank.
