Kathleen Haswell is originally from London, England, but immigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1966.
To escape the cold winters in Canada, she and her husband John looked at retirement homes and eventually purchased a house in 2003 in beautiful Sun Lakes.
After retiring from work in 2000, Kathleen took painting lessons with her friends at the local college and various art schools and with art teachers in her local area. She has painted glass, furniture, gourds, large paintings on wood and canvases, using acrylic paint as her main medium. She has an art studio at home where she paints with her friends twice weekly. Her favorite subjects are her nine grandchildren and she is working on doing all their portraits; only two children left to paint!
Her other hobbies are beading, gardening, making jewelry and knitting. Kathleen has four children, three girls and a boy. Two live in the United States and two live in Canada in her hometown.
She joined the Desert Artists’ Club when it was a small group of watercolor painters in 2004. Over the years it has become a large group of artists using different mediums. The most beneficial part of joining the group is the wonderful friendly and helpful people she meets there. Everyone is willing to share ideas and expertise and help in any way they can.
We are a diverse and interesting group. Come join us!
