Meet Your Local Candidates!

The Sun Lakes Republican Club will host “Speed Dating: Meet Your Local Candidates” on Wednesday, June 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club, at 25601 S. Sun Lakes Blvd., in Sun Lakes. Light refreshments will be served. The public is encouraged to attend this unique event, especially registered Independents! Independents have the opportunity to pick their choice of either ballot to vote in the July 30 Primary Election. Please bring your new neighbors and friends! Our mission is “education for an informed electorate.”

Have you ever participated in Speed Dating? It is a fun-filled way to meet many people and get your key questions answered in a short time! Our Meet the Local Candidates event is patterned after the concept of Speed Dating to provide a more intimate setting to hear from many local candidates and ask the questions that are most important to you in a very efficient manner.

Here is the format: We will have round tables seating about 10 people with a candidate at each table. The candidate will provide a brief introduction about his/her qualifications and the reasons he/she is running for office. Then the table participants will have the opportunity to ask their questions. After 15 minutes, the candidate will move to the next table. Candidates for State Senator, State Representative, Chandler Unified School District School Board, Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, and County Sheriff will be participating.

Come meet and greet State Senator JD Mesnard, State Representative Julie Willoughby, former State Representative Jeff Weninger, Chandler City Councilman Mark Stewart who is a candidate for Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, CUSD School Board candidates Eloyce Gillespie and Leanna DeKing, and County Sheriff candidate Frank Milstead.

You will be offered a jam-packed evening to assist you in making the right choices in about two hours, before the upcoming July 30, 2024, Election Primary!
