Men’s Oakwood Golf Association News

If you are new to the community or would like to spend some time on the golf course, why not join the Men’s Oakwood Golf Association (MOGA)? Our Thursday games are a good way to meet some new friends. You don’t have to be a resident of IronOaks to join our group. We have over 388 active and handicap-only members, with golfers at every level. MOGA has an event each Thursday throughout the year. Join MOGA and meet some new friends while playing a variety of team and individual games each week.

Upcoming Schedule for December MOGA Games:

Dec. 2: ABCD Rainbow 8 a.m.; Home & Home SLHOA1 12:30 p.m.

Dec. 9: Individual Low Net by Flight 8 a.m.; Home & Home SLHOA1 12:30 p.m.

Dec. 16: ABCD 1G 1N 10 a.m. start time*; No PM events

Dec. 23: Match Play by Flight 10 a.m. start time; No PM events

Dec. 30: ABCD Mixed 10 a.m.; No PM events

MOGA events are now shotgun starts at 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and beginning Dec. 16, we will only have an AM shotgun at 10 a.m.

Dates followed by an asterisk are MOGA Appreciation Days with free beer and soda in the afternoon.

Game descriptions are on the MOGA website www.mogagolf.org, and results of each week’s event are posted on the website. Payouts to weekly participants have averaged 50%, so come out and win some Pro Shop chits.

Membership: Re-enrollment for 2022 MOGA membership is now underway. Join or enroll online, and you can use a credit card and save some money.

Getting to Know … MOGA Treasurer Ken Gaylord

This month, getting to know Ken Gaylord, the treasurer for MOGA! Ken was born and raised in Southern California and enjoys golfing (4 handicap) and boating. His career was in the textile industry, and he retired two years ago. He is married to his wife Staci, and they have five children and four grandchildren. He has lived in Sun Lakes for four years and has been a MOGA member for two years as well! Thank you, Ken, for sharing a little about your family and background!
