Metal detecting: A fun way to exercise

Virginia Koehler

Need to get in some extra activity this year? Metal detecting is a good way to burn extra calories. Bending over and retrieving all those pull tabs and bottle caps off the ground is good for the waistline. You may even find a coin or two or perhaps even something more valuable like a lost ring or pendant. You never know.

In December, members searched a couple parks in Gilbert then met at Joe’s B-B-Q for our Christmas lunch.

Sun Lakes Metal Lokators meet the second Monday of every month, October through April, at 1:00 p.m. Most meetings are held at Sun Lakes Country Club. Some are held at a local restaurant or park. This month’s meeting is Monday, January 14, at 1:00 p.m. at Sun Lakes Country Club. We will probably be in one of the card rooms across from the pool tables on the left. Since our meeting location often changes, call Virginia at 480- 883-9672 if you are interested in attending a meeting.

Dues are $15 per person per year. Everyone is welcome to join us to see if this is an activity you would like to do.

If you have no metal detector and would like to try one out, you may come to one of our monthly hunts and use the club’s detector.

Anyone having lost a metal object of value to them is welcome to contact the Lokators Club and have our members search for your item. Contact Virginia Koehler at 480-883-9672.
