Neighbors Who Care Earns Arizona Designation as Qualified Charitable Organization for 2020

Neighbors Who Care, for the first time ever, has been approved as a Qualified Charitable Organization (QCO) with the State of Arizona. As with many nonprofits, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused diminished contributions and volunteers. The new designation allows Arizonans to direct Arizona tax dollars to qualified nonprofits serving Arizonans, while receiving a dollar-for-dollar tax credit.

To take advantage of this tax credit and to help Neighbors Who Care continue its mission, here’s what to do:

What do I have to do to take advantage of this?

1. Donate to Neighbors Who Care Today by calling 480-895-7133.

2. Claim the donation on your Arizona State income taxes (up to $400 for single filers, $800 for couples).

3. Enjoy a credit on your taxes in the exact amount you donated!

4. Get reimbursed by the State of Arizona, and be a huge part in helping Sun Lakes/South Chandler elderly maintain dignity and remain at home a bit longer.

(Arizonans can also find on AZDOR.gov a list of QCO. Our 2020 QCO code is 44426.)

About the organization: Neighbors Who Care is a nonprofit organization founded in 1994. Its mission is to assist the homebound, disabled, and/or frail elderly, in the communities of Sun Lakes and South Chandler. These communities have the third highest population of elderly adults statewide, but lack sufficient wraparound human services programs to address the population’s needs, according to the 2010 U.S. Census. Its operational goal is to recruit, train, and manage community volunteers to provide quality, non-medical assistive services, to enrolled clients via a “neighbor helping neighbor” approach which has helped our clients, on average, remain in their homes for an additional four years.
