It’s January already, and it won’t be long before we hear the birds chirping again. In the meantime, we can start the new year together as students of the world and members of New Adventures in Learning (NA).

For those who are new to the idea of lifelong learning, let’s just say it’s a way to develop in directions that interest you—not so much in formal education but in ways to help you/us explore and learn.

Our leaders and presenters are offering more than 75 wonderful classes to intrigue you this spring, which begins on Feb. 1 and ends on April 29.

You’ll find all the essential information on each class—the presenter, class description, whether it is held in person or by Zoom, and whether the class meets for one or more sessions.

Spring registration opens online on Wednesday, Jan. 19, at 10 a.m. Volunteers will be onsite to help with registration at the Sun Lakes Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 19 and 20.

Interested in presenting a class? The NA class proposal form can be found online. Go to our web page and click on “Get Involved” to access the form. While the deadline has passed to submit proposals for the spring semester, summer proposals will be accepted for consideration soon.

New Adventures is affiliated with Chandler-Gilbert Community College and meets at the college’s Sun Lakes Center, at 25105 S. Alma School Road. If you drive by the corner of Alma School and Riggs Roads, you will see it on the northeast corner.

We’re not out of the woods yet in terms of the pandemic, but we do follow the college’s safety requirements so we can have safe classes in person. We maintain distance and wear masks in the facility for in-person classes, which are scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays. Zoom classes are scheduled on Mondays and Fridays.
