New beginnings, new intentions

An example of Reiki healing.

An example of Reiki healing.

A new month, a new year and new possibilities. Reflecting on 2016, we remember the new adventures we had, the new habits we developed, the new friends we made and how we got a little wiser and a bit more gentle with ourselves. Perhaps we had challenges as well. Isn’t this all a part of life? I can remember a teacher of mine saying, “It isn’t what happens to you in life that counts, but what you do with it.”

Imagine my surprise when recently I was rear-ended as I was driving four friends to the theater. Luckily, no one in either car required medical attention at the time. The next day I realized the impact had wrenched the left side of my body. The pain limited my activities and interfered with my sleep. Resisting pain pills, I turned to Reiki.

Being involved with Reiki for over 20 years, I knew that would be my first course of action. I arranged to receive Reiki from others in person, from a distance and from myself. Reiki reduced the pain and is returning my body to balance. My training and my experience has taught me that Reiki is excellent for crisis situations and also for chronic conditions. This was my crisis, and I’m grateful that Reiki is helping me through.

I’ve also been receiving massage and chiropractic care which works well with Reiki. In fact, Reiki works well in accelerating the healing process of traditional medicine too. I’m hoping for even better than before.

If one of your intentions for this coming year is to learn a new way of supporting your health, may I suggest you try Reiki. In a first level Reiki class you will learn to give yourself and others Reiki. Once you are attuned to the energy you have it the rest of your life. The benefits of Reiki include reducing pain, reducing stress, accelerating the healing process, and returning the body to balance.

The Reiki Circle is a wonderful place to be introduced to this energy. We welcome you to join us any Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. in the Cottonwood Courtyard, Room A-2. There a group of Reiki practitioners share this energy with others. The environment is calming and conducive to healing. If you have questions about the Reiki Circle or Reiki classes you may contact Catharina Cupples at 480-883-7747 or Lois Valleau at 480-883-6699. Wishing you the very best that 2017 has to offer you.
