New Events Being Planned by the Friends of the Robson Library

Susan Bliss

The Friends of the Robson Library are planning several programs that will focus on local history and subjects of interest to residents. One program that is being put together features Marshall Trimble, a popular and entertaining speaker and Arizona’s official state historian. These events will be free to the public and will be announced in the Splash.

Until then, why not stop by the Friends’ bookstore in the Robson library on Riggs? Our Arizona summer is the perfect time for reading all those books that you have been putting off reading. Our store is in the back corner of the library near the big, blue sign. It’s a small bookstore, but we have lots of interesting books—some new, some old.

We rely completely on donations, and all the money we earn is used for programs in support of the Robson Library community. We are always in need of fiction books, especially paperbacks, and we also accept non-fiction books in certain categories, such as history, biography, religion, self-help, travel, health, and cooking. We even have a selection of large-print books. Most of our books sell for 25 cents, with the exception of a small number of collectible books and 2021-22 books. In addition, we sell audiobooks, CDs, and DVDs, which are priced at 25 cents for the CDs and DVDs, and $1 for audiobooks. Magazines are very popular, but due to space constraints, we are only able to accept donations of recent issues.

Our Friends group meets every second Wednesday at 9 a.m., except for the summer months, in the conference room of the library. We will resume meeting in September, and all are welcome.
