Niners results – October 2015

Jim Wegman, Publicity

The 2015-2016 season is underway and the pairings lists are growing longer each week. As more members return to play, the pace of play becomes more important. Let’s all help to keep the game moving along. As Lee Trevino said “let’s hit and git!”

Membership: Our league is growing again. We are welcoming four new members; Renny Vowell recruited by Larry Stadler, Bob Hiller recruited by Jim Wegman, as well as Mark Moberg and Patrick O’Connell recruited by the volunteers at the Open House. Welcome to the Niners guys. We also have a former member returning to the Niners, so look for Bruce McCorkle in our ranks once again. Bruce signed up at the IronOaks Open House. Welcome back Bruce.

With the annual course closures for over seeding, maintenance and the Lakes rehabilitation project, there was no league golf scheduled for October 8, 15 and 22.

The Niners-Hamilton High Golf Team fundraiser event is scheduled for March 17, 2016. Further details for all the events will be posted in the coming weeks.

Thanksgiving Day: The Board members, Committee Chairmen and Game Managers of the Niners hope you and your family members had a happy and hearty Thanksgiving Day. There was no organized league play on November 26, Thanksgiving Day.

Oakwood Open House: A group of volunteers manned the Niners table at the IronOaks Clubhouse on Saturday, October 31. The group included Joe Sigillo, Bob Deken, Bill Slattery, Mike Osborn, Ron Betti, Jack Cook, Mike Stewart and Len Dolins. It is the members who step up to volunteer that make the league work. So, a big thank you to the guys who gave up their Saturday morning and afternoon hours to help the league grow. Their efforts resulted in the return of a former Niner and two new members signing up with the league.
