Dick Teater

OCGL2 kicked off their new season on Nov. 8 with Fred and Linda Smith volunteering to remain as presidents for another year. They have been great leaders and have brought outstanding technical savvy in computerizing much of our event planning, organizing, and scoring. Jim Ray and Mary Dyrseth-Ray fleeted up to vice presidents, while Dick and Dang Teater joined the board as secretary/treasurer.

Our first event was a four-person scramble, drawing 108 players. Separating holes for men’s and ladies’ LPs and KPs (longest putt and closest to pin) proved challenging for at least one male player who signed the ladies’ KP! Otherwise, fun was had by all, with no injuries and 32 couples “in the money.”

The post-dinner ceremony required additional time explaining the new (2020) handicapping system and GHIN requirement for separate email addresses for every member. This was handled astutely by Fred, in spite of a second detached retina surgery two days prior.

OCGL2 is a great league to meet new couples and have fun together. Many members have formed long-term social alliances around couples they have met at our events. Memberships cost $30/year and the per-event cost is $40, which includes dinner and prizes. If you are not IronOaks golf members, you pay golf fees separately.
