Karen Graves moved to IronOaks two years ago from South Carolina, her first retirement home. Karen was a longtime employee of the Sears Corporation in Chicago. They decided to move to IronOaks to be closer to her family. The Graves have six grandchildren ranging in age from 6 to 22. They picked our community for all it has to offer in the way of amenities and clubs and location. Karen took up the game of golf after she retired, and she is a great player. Karen would like to help organize a local invitational. Please let her know if you can help her achieve this goal. It would include Sun Lakes Country Club, Cottonwood Palo Verde, and maybe SunBird.
Following are some dates to remember for upcoming events. Please post these events to your date books or cell phones.
Dec. 5 is our Christmas Luncheon. Please submit your reservation checks made out to OLNGA for $25. The luncheon will be chicken marsala, mashies, salad, and bread pudding with a bourbon cream sauce for dessert. The officers for 2024 will be installed at the luncheon. They are as follows: President Karen Graves, Vice President Sue Boucher, Treasurer Nancy Hooke, and Secretary Chris Berney.
Thank you, ladies, for volunteering to keep the oldest organized golf league in IronOaks going strong!
Start times are 9 a.m. Please be signed in and ready to go at 8:30 a.m. so you can be part of our pre-golf parking lot meeting. Judy Hedding, our rules chair, usually discusses a rule or two with a demonstration of how to follow it.
Dec. 5 is a Step Aside Scramble on the Lakes, followed by our Christmas Luncheon. It has been traditionally our ugly Christmas sweater day. This year, lets mix it up with something seasonal—pretty or ugly, it’s up to you!
Dec. 12: Palms Blind Drawer
Dec. 19: Sonoran Low Net
Dec. 26: Lakes Fewest Putts
The board of the OLNGA wishes you all a terrific holiday season with lots of great golf in 2024!
