If you’re interested in joining a women’s league — a group of fun ladies who enjoy the friendships, good golf (if only!) and just having a good time – Oakwood Lady Niners (OLNGA) is for you. We have been in existence for 35+ years, and our membership totals about 75 members. If you want to join, you need to establish a handicap with five nine-hole rounds, complete the application form/pay fees, etc. If interested in joining, please call Bonnie Tasch at 303-868-7360 or Pat Stead at 480-883-1450 so that you have all the necessary information.

During the summer with the extreme temperatures, golf tee times are 7:00 a.m., and we’re usually completed by 8:30 a.m. – thus avoiding the heat. We don’t use Chelsea to sign up during the summer months, but just sign up at the golf shop. Our last play date before overseeding was October 10.

The Oakwood Open House was Saturday, October 7. OLNGA had a table promoting membership in our group. The annual Golf Expo is Wednesday, November 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Oakwood practice facility – always a fun occasion to get updated on new equipment and see new fashions looks. (Watch for more info on Expo in the weekly “Stay in the Loop.”)

We plan to start the 2017-2018 season on Tuesday, November 14, (Oakwood courses are closed through November 8). Luncheon at Oakwood will follow. Tuesdays is play day, usually starting with a short meeting around 9:45 a.m., and golf commences at 10:00 a.m. Goal is to be done by 11:45 a.m. If we don’t have a planned luncheon, many members get together at Stone & Barrel after play for lunch.

Congratulations and well done! Denise Lott, who has only been playing for one-and-a-half years, had a hole in one! Denise was playing Bear Creek and it was an eighty-one-yard shot with a pitching iron. Super job, Denise!

Tip of the month: Be aware of your surroundings and avoid making noise when a player is over the ball and ready to play.
