Outstanding lineup of Rotary speakers this month

On Tuesday, June 5, Joan Campbell, Community Affairs Coordinator from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, will talk about “Trending Scams.” Joan is a retired City of Glendale police officer. She worked in the patrol bureau, served as a school resource officer and as a community action team officer.

On Tuesday, June 12, Paul Roy, Utilities Operation’s Manager for the City of Chandler, will discuss the state of water utility infrastructure in the USA. For over 30 years, Paul has managed water utilities in both the public and private sectors. Most of his efforts have been in building sustainable organizations while leveraging technology and optimizing operations and maintenance functions.

On Tuesday, June 26, the Rotary meeting will be held in the late afternoon.

Brett Huston and Rachel O’Brian, Faculty Interact Representatives at Casteel High School, will make a joint presentation about the involvement of Interact students in community life. Rachel teaches and runs the Career Advisory Center. Brett has spent the past 20 years educating and coaching young adults, including general education math and social studies; special education math; English and science; transition specialist; junior high athletic director; dean of students; and PE teacher. This is his third year at Casteel High School as the men’s varsity basketball coach and 24th year coaching basketball. His Casteel teams have made it to the Sweet 16 of the 3A tournament the past two years and were ranked No. 3 in 3A at the end of the season.

The Rotary Club of Sun Lakes meets for breakfast every Tuesday morning at 6:30 a.m. in the Oakwood Country Club ballroom. The meetings start at 7:00 a.m. and end promptly at 8:00 a.m. Cost of breakfast is $13. The June 26 meeting starts at 4:30 p.m. Cost for the hors d’oeuvres is $10.
