P.E.O. members continue their philanthropic endeavors

P.E.O. is an international philanthropic and educational organization which promotes increased educational opportunities for women. One of their many projects is PCE, Program for Continuing Education. This program presents need-based grants to women whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to return to school to support themselves and/or their families. P.E.O. Chapter DD of Sun Lakes has presented two PCE grants to local women this year.

Elizabeth Mollenhour is a single mother of four pursuing a nursing degree at Chamberlain School of Nursing in Phoenix. Prior to continuing her education in nursing Elizabeth, while raising four children, worked as a massage therapist for 22 years. During that time she earned an associate degree in nursing from Glendale Community College in Phoenix. She graduated from GCC with a 3.9 GPA and with top honors. Elizabeth plans to complete her bachelor’s degree in December of this year.

Raena Woods is the mother of two and is pursuing a nursing degree at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. Raena received a two year nursing degree from Ottumwa, Iowa in 2000. She is currently working with premature infants in the intensive care unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix. Raena plans to complete her bachelor’s degree in April of 2017.
