We had four Wednesdays of very interesting and fun games during the month of March, even though the weather was scorching for a couple of these! Many of us braved the heat and learned all about “shade hopping” on the PV golf course. That “side game” made golfing in 100 degrees more bearable than this golfer would have guessed! In case you were wondering why more trees have been planted on the course, now you know!
The winners for the month of March are:
March 4: T’s and F’s (score for the holes starting with those letters): 1st place was Jackie Morgan with 14; 2nd place was Joan Dixon with 15.
March 11: ONES (score for holes starting with those letters): 1st place was Andrea Steinhaeusser with 22; 2nd place was Amy Torregrossa with 23.
March 18: Fewest Putts: 1st place was Carol Moser with 14; tied for 2nd were Barb Byczko and Naomi Bryson tied with 16.
March 25: Select a Drive (use the best drive and add the two best scores): 1st place team: Sharon Wilson, Patti Forsythe, Christy, and Julie Little with 66; 2nd place team: Rosann Soczka, Mary Mentone, Amy Torregrossa, and Lorie Denapoli with 71.
April 1: Three Clubs and a Putter: 1st place Penny Flynn with 37; 2nd place Barb Byczko with 40; 3rd place was three-way tie with 41 by Sheryl Haugeberg, Julie Little, and Mary Billadeau.
On April 8, (two days before the deadline for this article!), PVLN enjoyed our end of the season party for our 10th hole on the golf patio after a shotgun game on the back nine. It was a close contest with the winners achieving par score of 31, second place team scored 32, and four teams finished in a tie for 3rd place with 34.
Our PV Niners group has grown to 53 ladies! We hope you will all join us again next fall for another great season of golfing on our beautiful Palo Verde course! Sadly, many of our ladies are departing for the summer months, but league play will continue through the end of April until we begin our games again next November.
Have a safe and enjoyable summer wherever you land. See you in the fall for more fun on the Palo Verde golf course.
Quote of the month: My swing has commitment issues—it never shows up when I need it.
I will leave you this season with the Golfer’s Prayer
O’Lord, I pray before that day has come and run; you will let me hit a hole-in-one! When to your heavenly course you call, here I come—golf bag and all.
