The Palo Verde Men’s Golf Association (PVMGA) wrapped up the 2022-23 season with two fun events held around the course closings for overseeding. On Oct. 7 the men’s clubs at Palo Verde and Cottonwood teamed up for a Beat the Pros/Supers 2 Net Best Ball event at Cottonwood where seven teams were able to beat the Pros/Supers team score of 54-1/2. On Oct. 28 the clubs joined again for another beat the Pros/Supers event at Palo Verde where 22 teams were able to best the Pros/Supers score of 48-1/2 strokes.
Nov. 4 began the 2023-24 season with a Select-A-Drive 2 Net Best Ball event followed by a lunch and general membership meeting in the Palo Verde dining room.

1st (tie): Ron Keil, Arve Moser, Wes Davis, and Joe Lombardo
1st (tie): Chuck Guillaume, Dennis Goden, Robert Butt, and Ken Nelson
3rd: Mike Lorimor, Joe Byrne, Cliff Joyes, and Warren Ball
At the general membership meeting following play, PVMGA president gave opening remarks, thanking the Palo Verde restaurant employees for the lunch prepared and Mike Pasternak for all his work in making the arrangements. Al also introduced the new members to the club who were in attendance.
Mike Rufert, handicap chairman, then presented the award for the Most Improved Golfer. The third most improved is Barry Walcker with a 17.6% reduction in his handicap. Second place is Paul Jorgensen with a 18.2% reduction. The 2022-23 Most Improved Golfer is awarded to John Kane with a 22.3% reduction in his handicap for the year. Congratulations to John!
Nominations for the three open officers positions were taken from the floor, and a slate of officers will be voted on at the December annual meeting.

Tuesday, Dec. 5/Saturday, Dec. 9: Home and Home with Ironwood Country Club. Play is at Ironwood on Tuesday and at Palo Verde on Saturday, with lunch following play.
Saturday, Dec. 16: 2-Person Scramble with lunch and the annual membership meeting
Saturday, Dec. 23: 2 Net Best Ball
Saturday, Dec. 30: Pick-Your-Partner 1 Net Best Ball
