Jim Davis, Publicity
Well, another month and another monsoon or two or three, but they didn’t interfere with our golf. September is the last full month of golf for the 2013-2014 season and with a variety of formats; what a great month, too.
Our first round this month, September 6, started with an Individual Stableford format, net score. In Flight 1, John Mitchell won with a 32 net and in Flight 2 Larry Orton won with a net 31.
On September 13 we had a Select-a Drive, Two Best Balls Net format. The winning team with a net 82 consisted of Dennis Bockelman, Charlie Silvertson, Harry Martin and Budd Livingstone. After the match, we had our monthly luncheon and meeting. Good food and good friends at the Palo Verde Country Club.
The September 20 outing included a format of Three Best Balls Net. The winning foursome with a total of 161 consisted of Jack Hall, Larry Orton, Jim Vernon and Ivan Shaw. Our last round of the month, on September 27, consisted of a One Gross plus Two Net Best Balls. The winning team with a total of 168 was Dennis Bockelman, Phil Hollevoet, Craig Freerksen and Blind Draw. I understand Blind Draw was the best player on the team.
The Palo Verde course was closed until October 20 with the PVMGA’s first outing on October 25, a Beat the Pro/Super for both PVMGA and CMGA as Cottonwood was still closed for overseeding.
Our November calendar will be full, starting with November 1 having a One Gross plus One Net format and is also an Ace of Aces qualifier. There will only be a morning session as the Welcome Back Picnic at Sisk Park will follow. On the morning of November 8 we will have the Men’s and Women’s challenge with lunch and meeting to follow; the afternoon will have a Select-a-Drive, Two Net Best Balls format. On November 15 morning and afternoon will have a Turkey Shoot and Three Net Best Balls format. The morning session on November 22 will be Member/Member, One Best Ball, flighted; the afternoon will have a One Net Best Ball format. November 29 will have both morning and afternoon with a Team Stableford format. Look forward to seeing all of you.
