Passkeys—Everything You Need to Know!

Helen Seaton, Public Relations Director

In the world of online security, when a public key and a private key combine, they create a passkey that can unlock your account. Passkeys have plenty of benefits; for example, they cannot be guessed or shared. Also, passkeys resist some phishing attempts, because they’re unique to the sites they’re created for, so they won’t work on fraudulent lookalikes. Most importantly, your passkeys cannot be stolen by hacking into a company’s server or database, making the stolen data far less valuable to criminals.

Join us on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 1 p.m. as we examine 2FA (two-factor authentication) and this new world of passkeys. The meeting will be in the Phoenix Room of the Cottonwood Country Club Computer Learning Center.

Computer Booters is a local technology user group, and our meetings are open to all. Check out our calendar for our current events and updates at computerbooters.org/calendar.
