The members of Post 619 Jewish War Veterans in Sun Lakes will be meeting at 9:30 a.m. on October 19 in the Mirror Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club. The speaker will be Craig Remsburg who will be accompanying his son, Cory Remsburg, and telling the events that led to Cory, his son, being almost killed in the war on his 10th deployment. Cory was honored at the State of the Union address by the President and sat at the first lady’s side.

The Post is active all year long and inquiries are answered all year long from any person regardless of race, religion or gender who would like to know more about the top veterans group in the Valley that raises and distributes the most donations to homeless and hospitalized veterans. During September the Post provided soft drinks and refreshments for patients coming to their appointments at the Southeast Clinic of the VA. During the weekend preceding, Veterans Day members will be in front of area Fry’s Groceries in Chandler and the Mesa Market Place Swap Meet in Mesa. Also, the Post is in charge of Veterans Day observances at the flagpole in the area of the Sun Lakes Country Club also known as Veterans Pavilion. The guest speaker will be Col. Joe Abodeely, the driving force behind the Veterans Museum located at Papago Park Military Reservation. Our officer in charge of putting on events for veterans has been very busy. For information on the post call Elliot Reiss at 480-802-3281; for reservations that precede the meeting call Myra Buckner at 480-305-0533.
