5/03. We experienced a week of extremely debilitating temperatures. Most of the summer ladies did continue to participate on Tuesday mornings in spite of the blazing sun and the hot environment.

The Flight 1 champion of our match play tournament was Carol Guild, runner-up Susan Haword, semi’s Carol Myers and Mary Nelson; Flight 2 champion was Pat Tjosvold, runner up Donna Purcell, semi’s Jo Crook and Mary Fitzke; Flight 3 champion was Karen Bailey, runner up Laverne Baach.

5/17. Scramble with a twist and luncheon. The team of Jo Crook, Susan Lamb, Kathy Bushbaun and Lois Fitzsimmons was the 1st place winner. Second team winners were Carol Ruff, Rose Hames, Naomi Bryson and Diane Roberts. Tied with them was the team of Dee Monsonis, Vallerie Verbeck, Karen Ryan and Liz DeMichael. Thank you Carol Guild for selecting a tri-salad luncheon everyone raved about; how appropriate it was.

5/31. Best nine holds – Flight 1: 1st Donna Purcell, 2nd Cindy Bosch, 3rd Ann Hammond; Flight 2: 1st Ellen Bond, Carol Schacht and June Park; Flight 3: 1st Kathy Jones, 2nd Helen Saxton, 3rd (tie) Dolores Mahaffey and Rita Raymond.

Our American flags again waved with a sense of greatness along the streets of Sun Lakes, reminding us to prayerfully thank our veterans who gave their lives for our freedom.
