The Palo Verde Men’s Golf Association started the month of December with the Ace of Aces final for the year, followed by a Home and Home event with the Ironwood men, a 4-Man Scramble, Pick Your Partner—1 Net Best Ball, and a 2 Net Best Balls game.
The Home and Home was a two-day event played Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Ironwood, finishing at Palo Verde on Saturday, Dec. 13. The game at each course was a Select-A-Drive, 2 Best Balls Net. Refreshments were served each day after play and including lunch at Palo Verde on Saturday.
After Saturday’s play, there was a first place tie between the team of Bruce Pape, Rich Pavlak, Marty Snodgrass, and Richard Thomas and the team of Brad Wilson, Richard Schager, Rodger Brandt, and Bill Lewis. Finishing in third place was Rick Schultz, John Kane, Phil Hollevoet, and Dennis Grendahl. Prizes were awarded for Closest to the Pin on four holes for members of each club, and six players won for being in the circle on hole number 2 at Palo Verde on Saturday.

Saturday, Dec. 20, was a 4-Man Scramble that ended the day in a three-way tie for first place with a score of 41.

Upcoming events for February start the month with the Member-Member Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 7. The following week will be a 2 Net Best Ball game on Feb. 14 and then the annual President’s Lunch Select A Drive on Feb. 21. Ending the month is another two-day Home and Home with Oakwood Men on Thursday, Feb. 26, and Saturday, Feb. 28.
