So the full-time residents are finally moth-balling their cold weather garments and blending in with our snowbird friends while we all enjoy the best time of the year!
Following are the results for the Palo Verde Mens Golf Association’s most recent events:
A Home and Home tournament with Sun Lakes Country Club took place on the mornings of Thursday, January 12 and Saturday, January 14. Two foursomes tied for top honors with scores of 197!
The victors were: 1) Marv Selby and John Young of SLCC together with Rich Featherstone and Larry Chidester of PVCC and 2) Don Bernhardt and Kevin Beausejour of SLCC together with Robert Butt and Elliott Bond of PVCC.
On January 14, an afternoon three Net Best Ball format was won by Ben Caviness, Don Grossart, Tom Becker and Jim Wedeward with a score of 163!
Heavy rains the following week resulted in the cancellation of our Fun Day Charity Event, scheduled for Saturday, January 21. The Sun Lakes Fire Department had been selected as our 2017 charitable recipient. Because of our full calendar, Fun Day could not be rescheduled and our executive board decided to present the fees collected ( over $3,100) to the SLFD at our next luncheon meeting.

The 2017 PVMGA President’s Cup Tournament was contested over Saturday morning rounds on January 28 and February 4.
The champion, with a score of 105, was Ken Nelson. Gary Whiting was the runner up with a score of 108. Other flight winners were Jerry Davis, Steve Ryland and Arve Moser. Congratulations gentlemen!
The January 28 evening event was a Select-a-Drive and was won by Mike Swindler, Mike Mlynarczyk, Frank Broley and Erv Jacob with a score of 84.
The February 4 evening event was a Two Best Ball contest which was won by Gary Heimgartner, Al Mattern, Bill Davis and Bob Lawson with a score of 93.

A 1 Best Ball Net contest on March 4
AM and PM Scrambles on March 11, with a President’s Lunch at noon
AM & PM Two BB’s Net (Ace of Aces) on March 18
A Home and Home Tournament with Oakwood CC to be played on March 23 and 25
