May was an extraordinary month! The weather was fantastic… like it should have been in March. On Memorial Day, I played golf in the late morning/early afternoon and it was 78 degrees. Wonderful. The weather was better than where most of the snowbirds were headed.
And it was a great month of golf. On May 4 and 5, we competed with the Cottonwood boys in the Ryder Cup. One round was played at each course with a lunch afterward. There were 19 two-man teams for each club. PVMGA was the winner with 19 wins, 16 losses and 3 ties over the two days.
On May 11, a two-man team best ball event was contested. Winners of the First Flight was the team of Vaughn Torgusen and Dennis Bockelman. Second Flight winners were Danny Jetton and Buster Crook.
On May 18, a four-man team, 2 best ball competition was held. First place went to the team of Ed Johnson, Ken Verbeck, Terry Cronin and Richard Hair. Second place was awarded to the team of Daryl Ramseyer, Tom Jeub, Julian Pickens and Keith Wilson.
On May 25, a two-man team scramble was held. There was a tie for First Flight winners between Paul Jorgensen and Tom Jones with Bud Murray and Danny Jetton. The Second Flight was won by the team of Gary Assenmacher and Joe Lombardo.
June is just around the corner, and warmer temperatures are on the way. So tee off early, take plenty of water and have fun.
