So now, with few exceptions, our friends are back from their northern habitats where they no doubt spent the summer taking lessons and practicing long hours in preparation for the coming new Palo Verde golf season. The full-time residents are ready…

Following is our report on the final events of last season, which came to an end as our course closed temporarily, October 2 to October 23, for the rejuvenation process of over-seeding:

On the morning of September 23, the victors of an Individual Net Stableford tournament were as follows:

Flight 1 – Daryl Ramseyer, with a score of 33; Flight 2 – Gary Zahnow, with a score of 37. Well done, gentlemen!

On Saturday, September 23, a 1 Gross plus 2 Net BB’s event was won by Ken Stanlel, Don Hicks, Vaughn Torgusen and Gary Zahnow.

On Saturday, September 30, a 2 BB’s Net contest ended in a tie, with four foursomes carding a score of 101!

Here they all are, (in no particular order, of course):

Dick Martin, Cliff Joyes, Rodney Deuel and Roger Wilson; Bob Schaedel, Richard Hair, Basil Foster and Larry Chidester; John Mitchell, Bob Mansfield, Woody Nieman and Bob Keltz and, finally, Daryl Ramseyer, Ron Crabtree, Neil Curtis and Bill Phillips

On Saturday, October 7, following the PV course closing, a joint CW/PV “Beat the Pros/Presidents” Scramble competition was held at Cottonwood Country Club. Our Pros and Presidents were beaten by so many foursomes that they shall remain unidentified! (But a good time was had by all!)

A second Beat the Pros/Presidents Scramble was scheduled for Saturday, October 28, at PVCC.

As of this writing, the calendar of events for 2017-2018 was not yet published, but we all know that the premier social event of the season, the Celebration of Golf, will be held at the PVCC on Tuesday, November 7!

We always have an open invitation for those interested in joining the PV Men’s Golf Association to inquire at our Pro Shop or to call for information at 480-895-0300.
