The “Spring Pro Showdown,” a new format for the Palo Verde and Cottonwood Professionals’ competition/exhibition spring match, was held at the CWCC golf course at high noon on Tuesday, May 8, with a large flotilla of golf carts following the action!

The temperature was as hot as the action! (29 degrees warmer than last year’s event – I looked it up!)

The CW pros took the 3 vs. 3 match in a close finish, with PV’s Joey Forsythe winning the skins contest! Congratulations and thank you, gentlemen, for the entertainment!

On Thursday, April 12, and Saturday, April 14, a Home & Home series with SunBird CC was won by Don Hicks (PV) and Jim Davis (PV) and Gary Hall and Dan Carroll with a score of 205. The victory was aided by a hole-in-one by our very own 2018 president, Jim Davis!

An afternoon April 14, 2 Best Ball’s match was won by Jack Hill, Mike Rufert and Terry Cronin with a score of 109.

The annual PV/CW Ryder Cup competition was held over the weekend of April 21 and 22.

Cottonwood were the victors with an 86 to 71 margin. We will be back next year with a vengeance!

On Saturday, April 21, a 2 Best Ball’s event was won by Ron Crabtree, Jim Wedeward, Jerry Esget and Arnie Bannerman with a score of 96!

On Saturday, April 28, the 2018 Shootout was won by Jack Hill, followed by Don Hicks and John Mitchell.

As of this report date, the 2018 Match Play competition was still in progress.

Future Saturday morning events include:

June 2 – Scramble

June 9 – 3 BB’s Net

June 16 – Select-a-Drive (2 BB’s Net)
