The Palo Verde Men’s Golf Association’s Fun Day charity golf tournament was scheduled for play on Saturday, January 21, with the Sun Lakes Fire District as the charity recipient.

January 21 turned out to be a cold day with the wind howling and the golf course soaked from the previous two days of rain. TPVMGA was forced to cancel their tournament, with no open date available to reschedule.

As disappointing as it was to not play the Fun Day Charity Tournament, it soon became apparent the players wanted our donation to go to the SLFD anyway. In fact it was decided that the entire total of each player’s entry fee of $25 would be donated, without anything held back for pizza and refreshments as originally planned.

At their next event, the Sweetheart Tournament, the Palo Verde Men’s Golf Association donated their entire proceeds from the cancelled Fun Day tournament.
