There’s good news if you’re interested in hands-on healing. The Reiki Circle is meeting every week on Zoom, and there will be two Reiki talks and demonstrations offered in Cottonwood’s Fitness Center this March.
As a recent transplant to Sun Lakes from Seattle in 1994, I was seeking a Reiki community like I had back home. No such luck; thus, the Reiki Circle was born in 1995 as a way to introduce people to the benefits of Reiki, and give them an experience of it. It’s been meeting weekly ever since.
At the circle gathering, someone leads a guided meditation, and then massage tables are set up. The group divides among the tables; one person lying on their back (fully clothed) to receive and the others allowing the Reiki to flow through them to the recipient for about 20 minutes. Reiki heals holistically; physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Initially, Reiki relaxes and balances the body, thus allowing pain and stress reduction and providing a sense of well-being. As I was teaching those interested to become Reiki practitioners, the circle became a place for students to practice their new skills.
Then the pandemic hit, and like many groups, it didn’t seem wise to continue to meet, with the threat of COVID. So, we didn’t. However, we were missing the community we had created, and I wondered if we couldn’t meet virtually, using the tools of Reiki II which teaches distance healing. Through the magic of Zoom, we now continue to meet every Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. The format is similar, but no hands on. Everyone is welcome to join us, whether Reiki trained or not. Call Lois at 480-883-6699, or email [email protected] and I’ll send you the link.
The next good news is that Reiki-Master-Teacher Rina Cupples, who has been practicing Reiki for 37 years, is offering two Reiki talks and demonstrations, as follows: Monday, March 15, 4 to 5 p.m., and Friday, March 19, 10 to 11 a.m. at the Cottonwood Palo Verde Fitness Activities Center, 25219 S. EJ Robson Blvd., in Cottonwood.
Seating space is limited, so please register to attend either session at the fitness desk, 480-895-1776.
You may have heard of Reiki but want to know more about “What is that?” If using healing-balancing energy piques your interest, come hear what it is all about.
You’ll also have an opportunity to receive a brief treatment from one of our Sun Lakes Reiki practitioners … very relaxing.
Be sure to register. Please wear a mask.
