The Sun Lakes Republican Club will feature “The Status and Future of Arizona’s Investments and Finances,” with State Treasurer Kimberly Yee, at its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 14, at 6:30 p.m. in the Navajo Room of Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 S. Sun Lakes Blvd., Sun Lakes, AZ 85248. You will also meet Lt. Col. Travis Grantham, a candidate for U.S. Congress in District 5. The public is invited. Please bring your friends and neighbors. Our mission is “Education for an Informed Electorate.” Light desserts will be provided for your enjoyment.
Kimberly Yee is Arizona’s chief banking and investment officer and oversees the cash management of Arizona’s $64.7 billion state budget and payments to agencies, local governments, and schools. Upon taking office in January of 2019, assets under management were at $15.4 billion. Today, assets under management have more than doubled to $31.4 billion.
Treasurer Yee is also the administrator of the AZ529 Education Savings Plan. Since the Fall of 2020, Yee has grown assets to over $2.5 billion, with 53,138 new accounts opened to help families save for higher education and workforce development. Treasurer Yee also led the effort to pass a state law requiring students to have financial education in high school.
Yee is the chairman of the Arizona Board of Investment and State Loan Commission and is a member of the State Land Selection Board. She also serves as chairman of the Financial Literacy Task Force, Arizona’s first-ever statewide body dedicated to advancing personal money management and financial awareness for students, senior citizens, military families, and vulnerable populations.
In 2010 Kimberly was elected to the Arizona Legislature and served for eight years, both in the House and the Senate, and served as Senate Majority Leader. She holds a Master’s degree in public administration from ASU.
Travis Grantham currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and is serving as an Aircraft Commander, Evaluator, and Instructor Pilot in the Arizona Air National Guard, with over 3,000 hours in the KC-135. He currently serves as the 101st Air Refueling Wing Deputy Operations Group Commander. Travis has deployed to numerous forward operating locations throughout the world in support of the war on terror.
He recently completed his fourth term in the Arizona House of Representatives where he represented Gilbert in the 14th Legislative District. He served as Speaker Pro Tempore, Chairman of the House Rules Committee, and was a member of the House Ways and Means Committee during his final term. Grantham was term limited out in 2024.
To kick off the meeting, American Majority will provide a short presentation on “The Ballot Chase.” American Majority is a non-partisan, nonprofit organization that is training and equipping the next generation of liberty-minded candidates, activists, and community leaders. They believe that national change begins at the state and local level.
