The Restless Minds discussion group begins its 2018-19 season at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, in the Sewing Room of Oakwood’s Arts and Crafts Center.
The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month, September through May, to discuss topics of general interest. Each session focuses on one topic. All people with open, inquisitive minds are invited to attend. There are no dues or advance signups; just show up and participate.
The September session will focus on changes in the way people get around and what impact these changes will have. For example, the group will discuss the positives and negatives of driverless cars as well as the surge in use of services such as Uber and Lyft. With Chandler at the epicenter of driverless car trials, the question of whether you would ride in one is very real.
Discussion will also focus on the latest developments in the airline industry, including the downsizing of bathrooms and the escalating battle over carry-on luggage.
The group also will be asked to consider what actions on the transportation front the nation needs to consider in the next couple of decades. If time permits, we’ll also consider road rage and what, if anything, can be done about it.
