As a retirement community, Sun Lakes is filled with people with much experience and a willingness to share those strengths and abilities with others. We are a community that relies heavily on volunteers.
For its last program of the 2018-19 cycle, the Restless Minds discussion group will consider all aspects of volunteering – including rewards, obstacles and whether there are downsides.
The meeting will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, in Oakwood’s Arts and Crafts Center. All persons with open, inquisitive minds are welcome. There is no charge or advance registration. Just show up and participate.
Discussion Leader Maynard Iverson will ask participants to share their experiences – good and bad – with volunteers and volunteering.
The discussion will also consider ways to utilize volunteers in order to better serve the community. Also, certain to come up is “burn out” among volunteers and why it is sometimes difficult to recruit volunteers for worthy causes and projects.
