Risen Savior presents 2016 Community Christmas Concert

Rev. Ron Burcham, Senior Pastor of Risen Savior Lutheran Church invites all Sun Lakes residents who love the Christmas season and enjoy well-performed Christmas music to attend this year’s Community Christmas Concerts on Sunday afternoon, December 11. The cast will present two, one-hour performances beginning at 2:30 and 4:30 pm.

“We were absolutely overjoyed by the response to our Community Christmas Concerts last year. Even after adding a second performance to handle the enthusiastic audience turnout, the church was filled to capacity at both performances,” said Pastor Burcham, who also serves as Master of Ceremonies for the event. “If you have never attended one of our Community Christmas Concerts, you will find that they are a joyous, audience-friendly, musical celebration of Christmas unlike any other. In addition to being entertained with Christmas music performed by gifted musicians, the cast accompanies the audience in singing their favorite carols and songs throughout the program,” he added.

“Perhaps the best part of all is that at the same time we are having a wonderful time celebrating Christmas, we are also joining together to help many of our neighbors in need. In keeping with our objective of using this event to bless our less-fortunate neighbors during the holidays, the admission fee for the concert will, once again, be two cans of food per adult attendee which will be donated to the Chandler Food Bank. Last year, the audiences filled 10 huge boxes containing more than 1,700 pounds of food which was collected by the food bank the day after the concerts for distribution throughout the holidays,” Pastor Burcham stated.

In commenting on the musical content of this year’s concerts, Joel Endicott, Director of Worship, added, “We believe our 2016 musical presentations will even surpass last year. In addition to return performances by the majority of last year’s featured musicians, including international recording artist, trumpeter Tim Moke, we have added three performing concert instrumentalists who will join with the choir in a classical Christmas number. If you love to hear and sing popular Christmas songs and carols, this concert could be the highlight of your Christmas season,” Endicott added.
