Our March Rotarian of the Month is none other than Don Denkinger. Although Don is not with us for the whole year, when he is here he works tirelessly to support the projects and programs of our club.

This year he took on a big job co-chairing the annual Sun Lakes Rotary Golf Tournament which is very time consuming and also very important as it goes towards funding a variety of projects especially our education projects throughout the Chandler Unified School District. Don is also one of our most celebrated and famous members. Don was a Minor League baseball umpire 1960-1968 and a Major League baseball umpire for 29 years [1969-1998] and his story is remarkable. We love to hear him recount his adventures in that highly visible world of sports. Don joined our club just four years ago after spending many years as a member of the Elks Club and as President of the Waterloo Rotary Downtown Club. Don hails from Cedar Falls, Iowa and attended Wartburg College and the Al Somers School for Professional Baseball Umpires in 1960. He is married to Gayle and spends part of his time in Waterloo, Iowa.

Our thanks and congratulations go out to Don and we wish him many more years of service.
