On Tuesday, September 2, Frank Wiley, Past President of Sun Lakes Rotary, will be presenting a special topic, “The Little Club that Could” – what a little Rotary Club did on and after 9-11 that was really big. This will be a treat!
On Tuesday, September 9, Dr. Jon Askew, distinguished member of the Sun Lakes Rotary Club, will present his medical life in war zones, from Afghanistan to the Philippines. He practiced as an OB/GYN for over 20 years at Banner Desert, delivering over 5,000 plus deliveries.
On Tuesday, September 23, Terri Morrison with Morrison Vein Institute will be speaking about her work in Nicaragua. The Institute specializes in vein procedures for spider and varicose veins. In addition to being a sclerotherapy and compression hose expert, Terri spent the last eight years as a vein care speaker both nationally and internationally. She also was a Maricopa County burn unit nurse, ICU and ER trauma nurse for over 22 years.
On Tuesday, September 30, Dr. Nish Shah will be speaking about facial and implant surgery. Dr. Shah completed his undergraduate training at the University of Illinois-Urbana. After completing his undergraduate degree, he pursued his undergraduate dental training at Southern Illinois University where he completed and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree. During his dental career, he was fascinated by the specialty of oral-maxillofacial surgery and he spent time doing research in dental school to prepare him for matriculating into an oral-maxillofacial surgery residency. Dr. Shah started his residency in oral-maxillofacial surgery at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. Dr. Shah completed six years of training in oral-maxillofacial surgery. His residency was a full-scope residency of the entire field of oral-maxillofacial surgery and was able to concentrate on several key areas. These include facial reconstruction, implant and bone grafting, orthognathic surgery, scar revision, cleft lip and palate surgery, skin cancer removal and reconstruction and head and neck cancer surgery.
Dr. Shah focuses on the full-scope of oral-maxillofacial surgery with an emphasis on facial reconstruction, orthognathic surgery, bone grafting and implant surgery.
He is a member of the American Medical Association, member of the American Dental Association, the Arizona Dental Association, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Arizona State Society of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Shah received his board certification in 2005 from the American Board of oral and maxillofacial surgery. He resides in Chandler with his wife and three children.
