Sandy Chavez wins PVLGA President’s Cup

The Palo Verde Ladies Golf Association (PVLGA) posted some hot scores in February, even though it was pretty chilly on the course. Check it out.

2/05 and 2/12. President’s Cup. Sandy Chavez is the 2019 President’s Cup champion for PVLGA. She played against a talented field of ladies and prevailed in the two-round event by shooting 113. Well done, Sandy! Other winners by flights were Flight 1: Nancy Howell and Tracy Rice (tied – 121) and Cindy Ryan (123); Flight 2: Cindy Bosch (116), Jo Crook (117) and Carol Ruff (119); Flight 3: Ginger Henry and Kathy Ivesdal (tied – 115) and Elaine Isaacson (117); Flight 4: Wanda Wiggins (114), Kathy Koon and Noella Bannister and Karen Ryan (tied – 119).

2/19. Fewest Putts. The early morning was cool, but it warmed up nicely the day of the Fewest Putts Tournament. The ladies with the fewest putts in each flight won, regardless of their score. Putts made from off the green did not count toward the score. Those golfers who are good have no advantage over us who can never seem to find the green! The results for the morning by flight were Flight 1: Billie Seiberling, Cindy Ryan and Tammy Visser; Flight 2: Anita Barber, Nancy Gehlbach and sharing third place, Julie Curran, Diane French and Jan Stuckey; Flight 3: Paula Elbery and Bonnie Kane (tied) and Rita Raymond. The afternoon results were just as exciting. Flight 1: Kathryn Campbell and Mary Nelson (tied) and Jan Hawkes; Flight 2: June Park, Linda Reber and Lynette Liffrig and Lori Snodgrass (tied).

2/26. Eclectic. The first round of an Eclectic Tournament was played on the last Tuesday in February. The second round will be played in March, and the best score will be picked for each hole between the two rounds. Stayed tuned to find out who the winners are!

Thanks to the Palo Verde golf pros and grounds keeping crew for making the golf course playable after such tough rains during the month! We all appreciate it.
