Savvy Travelers Club to Meet February 19

Jeanette Rajamaki

Join us for a Cruise Night event with Cunard in the Saguaro Room at Cottonwood Country Club on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 6:30 p.m. This cruise company has not been to Sun Lakes for at least 10 years, so we want to introduce them to our community and have them tell us what is unique about their cruises. Why should we sail with Cunard?

Cunard is one of the oldest and longest sailing cruise companies in the world. The first Queen Mary has been parked in Long Beach, Calif., since 1967 and is now a historic hotel and tourist attraction.

Cunard dates to 1839 when Samuel Cunard secured the first British government contract for a regular mail service across the North Atlantic. This marked the beginning of Cunard’s legacy as a pioneer in maritime travel. Over the years, Cunard has operated some of the most famous ships and set the standard for speed, safety, and luxury at sea.

The company has been at the forefront of maritime innovation, transitioning from liner service to leisure cruising while maintaining its commitment to tradition. Today, Cunard’s fleet continues to uphold the tradition of elegance and formality of British tradition and a blend of classic ocean travel and modern luxury. Tuxedos are gone and replaced with country club casual attire.

Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria, and the newest is Queen Anne—lots of brochures will be available. Also, crossings from New York City to Southampton, England. An effortless way to travel if you dislike those long flights to Europe.

Currently, all the cruise and land companies have excellent promotions for folks planning their summer and fall travel for 2026 and into 2027. For those of you wanting to stay closer to home, we have lots of options with American Cruise Lines and Viking. Great Lakes region—Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. There are lots of land deals with Globus, Insight Vacations, and Trafalgar. Call Jeanette at 602-909-2000 in Sun Lakes or Tami Bogdanoff in Washington State at 425-359-4852.

We look forward to seeing you in February.
