May marks the final monthly meeting as we pause for the summer. At a recent meeting, members were able to vote on areas of interest to help with the 2026 season planning. The top areas of interest were Wool Embroidery, Quilting, and several of our special interest groups. Sew-N-Sews has a lot to offer, and we are always open to suggestions!
Don’t worry, though. Members have lots of summer classes and activities to keep them busy. Summer classes and workshops are as follows: Jelly Roll Rug, Decoupage Plate, Knit Pillow, and Fabric Sphere class. Most workshops are held at the Oakwood Sewing Room here in Sun Lakes for Sew-N-Sews members. Recently, several members completed travel bags at a class taught by Marlene Wardell, and a few members of the Featherweight group got together to complete denim wall hangings.
We continue to grow, with new members joining every month. We have an estimated 142 members! Some have left for the summer, as our warm weather has hit us! However, to keep in touch, Sew-N-Sews is establishing a Zoom meeting account to stay connected until we meet back in September. More information is in the works.
As always, Sun Lakes guests are welcome to attend two meetings. As a guest, you will see all the benefits offered by this organization. As a member, you will be able to join in all the fun of the summer camp, too. New members are enrolled at each meeting. We welcome any new visitors and members to our meetings.
Sew-N-Sews meets the second Wednesday of each month, September through May, in the Navajo Room at Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 E. Sun Lakes Blvd., in Sun Lakes. Meetings begin at 1 p.m. Sew-N-Sews can be reached by emailing them at sewnsews1@gmail.com, or come to a meeting.
