Sew-N-Sews Newsletter

Peggy Abney

Welcome to this month’s SewNSews newsletter! Whether you are finishing a quilt, learning a new technique, mending a favorite piece, or simply enjoying time with fellow makers, we hope you are inside and keeping cool!

We ended the 2025-26 season in May with installation of our 2026-2028 co-presidents, Sue Boucher and Judy Davies. Vice President is Phyllis Prysock. Outgoing President Barb Brandt announced that we received a grant from the Greater Sun Lakes Community Foundation! We are so thankful for this generous grant! Thank you to Barb for her work on this.

The meeting highlight was “Demystifying Laura Heine with certified instructor Kim Thompson. She presented multiple works by Heine, as well as her own collection. Kits were available for purchase, and she presented a class later in the week for members. You can find these works at www.fiberworks-heine.com.

No formal meetings are held during the summer months, but workshops and classes are available for members to keep active and creative. Our next meeting is on Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. at the Navajo Room at Sun Lakes Country Club. We will be kicking off our 2026-27 season!

We have a fall retreat scheduled for Halloween weekend. It will be Wednesday through Sunday, Oct. 28 to Nov. 1 in Prescott, Ariz.

We would love to have you join us as a guest, give us a try, as we are a fun group and love to share many sewing, yarn and special group classes. Sew-N-Sews can be reached by emailing them at sewnsews1@gmail.com or come to a meeting.
