Shalom Hadassah

Doris Codkind, Publicity

What’s next for our Chapter? Can we top 2014 for fantastic events? The Shalom Chapter of Hadassah finished 2014 with a bang after having our Chillin and Grillin Barbecue; a marvelous Wine and Cheese Party; a trip to see The Sound of Music; and our annual shopping spree to Chico’s and other great stores. These events were successful in raising funds for our Chapter’s charitable work. Add to this a great lineup of programs on Reiki, our holiday recipe exchange, a book review and wonderful lunches. Sounds like an organization you would want to be a part of, doesn’t it?

So, what do we have coming up in the next few months? At our February 17 meeting at the Oakwood Clubhouse we are fortunate to have as our speaker Tresha Baldwin, physical therapist and owner of 360 Sports Medicine & Aquatic Rehabilitation. Her topic, “Aging Gracefully and Strong” will cover multiple strategies the everyday woman can use to remain youthful, with the emphasis on physical activity. Learn simple strategies and daily activities that can help maintain and improve balance, strength and endurance to help you enjoy life to the fullest each day. For optional lunch reservation at 11:30 a.m. send $16 to Ruth Friedman at The Renaissance, 9508 E. Riggs Road, Apt. D306, Sun Lakes, 85248. For the program only it will start at 1:00 p.m.

There is a double header in March when, on March 5, we will again go to the Phoenix Art Museum for a spectacular tour of “Fashioned in America” with lunch at the Museum Café. Fashioned in America is an exhibition about how economics, ecology and labor ethics are driving a revival of fashion designs made in the United States. Featuring more than 40 ensembles and accessories, Fashioned in America highlights work by contemporary designers whose vision and talent are invigorating the revival of U.S. Clothing manufacturing. For reservations call Diane at 895-6917 or Judi at 802-4944.

Then on March 7, one of the all-time favorite shows, My Fair Lady, will be presented at the Hale Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 each and checks made to Shalom Hadassah should be sent to Marcia at 10621 E. Champagne Dr., Sun Lakes, 85248. Reservations fill up quickly so be sure to reserve your seats early for this wonderful show.

Also on display and for sale at every meeting are the most beautiful greeting cards from Hadassah. You will want to stock up!

Shalom!
