With Halloween behind us and all that went on throughout the month of October, we are just starting to get rolling. We are fortunate that as the weather starts to lighten up, our area becomes one of the wonderful places to be at this time of the year. Thanksgiving weekend is rapidly approaching where families unite, sharing memories about the good old days, and just enjoying the opportunities to spend some quality time together.
Everything will start to fall in place as the days pass by. November is a popular month, as many of our friends are back in town, and regardless of what your interests are, there are always plenty of things to do and places to go. Close by in the early part of the month, you may want to put Nov. 2 on your calendar for the upcoming Neighbors Who Care seventh annual Fair that will be taking place right off Riggs Road and Alma School Road. Hours for that will be from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. You don’t want to miss that, as included there will be entertainment, plus a dunk tank, food, a Classic Car Show, an operating model railroad train exhibit, a baking contest, and much more. Neighbors Who Care is a local organization that provides services for those in need of transportation for medical appointments, food for those sheltered, and many other services to assist with whatever is needed.
If you’re thinking about striking it rich, or perhaps just want to experience a little bit of the Old West, you might want to consider taking a short trip up to Apache Junction and check out the annual grand opening on Nov. 2 at the Superstition Mountain Museum, which, I believe will be an all-day affair with much to see, including a wonderful operating G Scale model railroad layout located in the middle of nowhere. It will be well worth the trip.
On Nov. 13, SunBird will be having their annual Community Day spread out in their main ballroom, possibly running through the hallways of the main building, and, of course, the patio is right outside the ballroom doors and will be available for all. Here you can take a break, purchase refreshments, and relax at a table overlooking the pool where you can meet up with some old friends and neighbors from the area and enjoy getting a good start on a fun day. Check your local calendar for times for this event.
