A spooky train ride!

A spooky train ride!

With the holiday seasons rapidly approaching, make sure you keep your calendars up to date as there are many opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors and the fine weather that comes with it. For those that have an interest in the model railroad world, you will be able to find swap meets, open houses, the efforts of many model railroad clubs and the fantasy of the holiday lights, an annual must see, at the McCormick Stillman Railroad Park.

The Short Line Model Railroad Club has shifted gears somewhat, and have added to its agenda some more hands-on type projects. We are always looking for new members, and now may be a good time to come join us. It’s a chance to not only learn about all the changes that have come into play over the years, but meet new friends and share your experiences on the hobby that never gets old.

Regarding Community Days in November, our club will be manning a table at the Sunbird Golf Resort On November 4 from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Additionally, we will be at the Sun Lakes Country Club on November 14 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Plans are to have an operating train setting in place, plus whatever else we can fit into the space allocated to us. Stop by and say hello. Ask any questions you may have. We’ll have applications available for an easy way to sign up, and get involved in some fun times.

Our next meeting is scheduled for November 21 and will take place in the SunBird Community Center located off Riggs Road. The meeting runs from 9:00 a.m.-noon. At this meeting a training session is planned to take place with the topic being LEDs, covering an assortment of uses like flashing lights, strobes and more. As always, all interested parties are welcome. For more information on our club I suggest you dial into our web site at www.slmodelrrclub.org. If you have any questions regarding our club or model trains in general, feel free to contact me by e-mail at [email protected]. Look forward to getting to meet you all sometime during this exciting time of the year. Have a great day.
