SLJC Updates

Joyce Spartonos

It almost seems surreal that 2022 is actually here and ready to play out what Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation (SLJC) hopes is the start of healthier and happier times for all of us. But until we can be certain that this pandemic is behind us, SLJC will continue to incorporate both in-person (masks required) and live streaming for its services.

SLJC has started a new Grief Support Group that meets the second Wednesday of every month at the Chapel Center at 1 p.m. The meetings will be facilitated by Bobby Sachs, an SLJC member who is a trained and experienced grief counselor. There is no charge. Of course, masks are required.

The first service of 2022 will take place on Friday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. in the Chapel in Sun Lakes 1. SLJC will be installing its new board of directors at that time. In addition to Shelly Henden assuming the president’s position, Norma Owens and Geoffrey Garber will also be joining the board. We wish them all well and have to thank outgoing co-presidents Geri Gould and Wende Levy for their outstanding work, especially through such unprecedented times.

Our doors are open to all, and we love when members of the community decide to partake of our services. Rabbi Wiener’s sermons are always full of words of wisdom, and the beautiful voices of our choir are a joy to behold. Come join us! Our welcome mat is always out!

Until next time, Shabbat Shalom!
