Spirit of the Desert is a gourd patch (or club) based in Sun Lakes. We have members from all over the Valley. Our new website at SpiritDesertGourds.com is designed for the patch members and the public also. The newest addition of members’ work can allow the public to shop online for a very personally crafted piece of art.

On the front page you will see a nice photo of about half of our group. We are one of the largest patches in Arizona with nearly 50 members. On the website you will find these topics:

Under the Meet the Members tab you will find a few of our members have already built their personal page, full of some incredible work. This list will continue to grow in the fall as members return. And all the pages will continue to change as members add new creations. Most of our members love to sell their work, or create custom pieces. Members who have pieces for sale will indicate so in their bio, and will include an email address. Each member prices their own work, and will make their own arrangement for payment, shipping or delivery.

On the front page of our website you will see that we are members of the Arizona Gourd Society. Our patch is a sanctioned club of that society. This last month the Arizona Gourd Society hosted a gourd play date in Prescott and several of our patch members attended. It was a nice relaxing day when members from all the patches in Arizona met. About 50 members shared ideas, lunch and good conversations.

Also on our website front page you’ll see we are members of the American Gourd Society. In fact, our patch is mentioned in the spring issue of the society’s magazine. Our Storyteller gourd is pictured with a write up about our patch. The Storyteller won the Collaborative Category in the state competition last February.
