The Wuertz Gourd Farm Festival took place February 8-10, 2019, at the Pinal County Fairgrounds in Casa Grande. Spirit of the Desert Gourd Patch Members were well represented in the Arizona Gourd Society Competition and brought home a number of ribbons for their gourd art:

Novice: Karen Wollscheid 1st (Mask)

Intermediate: Mary Park 1st (Pyrography, Spirit Figures, Arizona Impression), 2nd Wood Carving, Coloring); Carl Cooper 3rd (Coloring), 2nd (Arizona Impression); Bonnie Moore 2nd (Natural Fiber); Deanna Dawes 1st (Miniatures), 3rd (Spirit Figures), Honorable Mention (Wildlife); Thelma Edwards 2nd (Miniatures); Pattie Langton 2nd (Mask)

Advanced: Sharon Medhurst 1st (Embellishments), Honorable Mention (Carving); Joanne Miles 2nd (Natural Fiber); Leigh Hill Honorable Mention (Coloring); Julie Hemer 1st (Sculpture, Spirit Figures), 2nd (Arizona Impressions)

Spirit of the Desert Gourd Patch also won third for a Collaborative Project. Vickie McKenna displayed a project in the Grand Master category.

The Gourd Patch also ran a very successful booth, selling members gourd art.

Monthly meetings take place at the Arts and Crafts Room at Sun Lakes Country Club (25601 Sun Lakes Blvd., Sun Lakes, AZ) at 4:00 p.m.
