November has been a busy month for the Gourd Patch. November 8-9 featured a class taught by patch member Julie Hemer. Julie taught new techniques about carving and sanding gourds to complete a Nativity Set. Everyone completed the first piece in their set and had a great time.

Spirit of the Desert sponsored an Arizona Gourd Society Play Date on November 17 in Sun Lakes. Projects were focused on Christmas and included Santa ornaments and holiday tea lights.

Spirit of the Desert Gourd Patch was established to share our love of gourds and gourd art with others who feel the same. We teach and continue to learn how to work safely with gourds while having fun. Spirit of the Desert is open to anyone living in the valley. We’d love to have you join us!

Monthly meetings take place at the Arts and Crafts Room at Sun Lakes Country Club (25601 Sun Lakes Blvd, Sun Lakes, AZ) at 4:00 p.m. **Please note, this is a new location for meetings.
