On Nov. 22 we had our annual Football Watch Party in the Saguaro Room. We enjoyed some action-packed football and it was great fun, with a turnout of over 40 Husker fans. Plan to join us next year.
Dakotas ‘Round Up’ Party March 12

Save the date! North Dakotans and South Dakotans and friends from Sun Lakes, SunBird, and surrounding areas are all invited to the annual North and South Dakota Party held Thursday, March 12, at the Cottonwood Country Club San Tan Ballroom in Sun Lakes. Make sure you put it on your calendar. It’s a 40-plus-year tradition!
Each year it seems the party gets a little bigger. Maybe the weather is just colder back home and more Dakotans are heading south? We are planning a real hoedown big party celebration, just like a good ol’ Dakota rodeo.
If you are not getting our emails, then you need to get on our Dakotas Party list. You can get on the list by emailing or calling us at the contact information below. Emails are preferred. Everyone on the list from last year continues. We are now emailing out the registration forms with all the details. If you didn’t get an email, check with us. Remember, you have to be prepaid and registered well before the party. There are no “walk in” registrations at the door. We have to guarantee numbers a week before, so please register early.
The 2026 party will again be indoors at the Sun Lakes Cottonwood Country Club San Tan Ballroom. It is still a casual event, much like our previous outside patio parties. No excuses for wimps who think it might be too cold or rainy. We again have as our event sponsor the Dakota-based Western State Bank, with branches here in Arizona. All of this means we will have not only nice registration gifts for everyone but also many great door prize drawings and lots of fun.
First, make sure you are on our annual party list so we can keep you up to date about our annual parties. Please spread the word. To save money, we are only doing email mailings, so please make sure all your Dakota friends know about the party. We need your help! Don’t assume everyone knows about it. Spread the word faster than Grandma’s country party line phone.
We will be confirming the cost soon, and then the registration forms will go out to our email list. The event will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 12. Advance tickets only!

Nebraska State Dinner

The annual Sun Lakes Nebraska State Dinner will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, in the Cottonwood Country Club San Tan Ballroom. Friends from Sun Lakes and surrounding areas are all invited to the dinner.
The no-host cash bar will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. This year we will be enjoying a prime rib carving station along with sides. There will also be a pasta station available. The cost for this year’s event will be $50.
Reservation forms for those on our mailing list will be sent out the first week of February. If you are new to the area, have a change of address, have never been on our mailing list, or have questions, contact Don Teusaw at 402-659-2410.
