Submitting a Photo or Other Artwork?

Robson Publishing welcomes you to send images to accompany articles. Here are a few reminders to help ensure they are usable.

Ownership. The photo or artwork should be taken or created by you, or you should personally know the photographer/artist and have permission from them. We cannot accept images found on the internet, even from sites that claim photo or art usage is free. Using someone else’s images without permission can result in large fines or legal action due to copyright protections. That’s why we ask for photo accreditation.

Size. When submitting an image, bigger is better! Please send the original, un-edited, un-cropped version. If you are given choices of small, medium, large, or actual size, choose actual size. If the photo was sent to you from someone else, please request that the original owner send as actual size as well.

Individual images rather than a collage. We understand wanting to get several images in one with a collage image, but a pre-made collage may not fit with our layout template. You may make a special request for our graphics team to create a collage from individual images, but it will depend on photo quality and space available in the publication if we can accommodate the request.

Top preferences. If submitting more than one image, let us know your top choice(s). As much as we’d like to include more than one image, we often have space constraints. Please limit your submissions to a few best pictures.

Captions. If your images have captions, please double-check that the number of people in the picture match the names in the caption, and that names are spelled correctly.

Permission for children. When pictures include children under age 18, they must have parental permission to be published.

Thanks!
