Judy Sadkin
Welcome to the first Member Spotlight column for the Sun Lakes Arts and Crafts Association. Each month, you will be introduced to two of our amazing members who will share their craft history and words of wisdom regarding crafting.
Renee Simpson
Renee Simpson, who hails from Washington State joined SLACA two years ago. Her button art crafts were inspired by an idea she saw on Pinterest.
Renee says that her craft “feeds her soul and she loves the creation part.” Every item she creates is unique and not a lot of them are being made so you will be getting a Renee Original each time.
When asking her for any words of wisdom for new crafters her advice is to “Be Patient!” It can take a while to be recognized. Great insight for any new endeavor.
Patricia Watts
Patricia Watts is a home grown Arizonan. She also has been in the club for two years. Patricia specializes in handcrafted bath and body products.
Patricia grew up in an environment where store bought products were not an option. Her mother made everything using an Evening of Paris lavender blend that always smelled so wonderful and she decided to continue that tradition and make the products to sell to others.
Her bath and body essential products are made from natural ingredients using raw materials from nature’s plants, minerals, bee products, water and milk. They go through little processing and contain no contaminants. Seventeen years creating handcrafted products for the largest organ of the body-our skin. She enjoys seeing the excitement when a customer purchases one of her items. Her commitment and pride are evident in every product.
Her words of wisdom to new crafters: “Make sure your heart and pride are in everything you do and it shows in your completed items or products.”
Renee and Patricia along with the other members of the Sun Lakes Arts and Crafts Association will be showcasing their work during our Holiday and Spring Shows at the IronOaks, Oakwood Ballroom.
