As of February, the Sun Lakes Camera Club (SLCC) has a new venue for its meetings and a change of meetings schedule. For the balance of the 2024-25 season, SLCC meetings will be held in the Friendship Room of Sun Lakes Country Club. Our meetings will now be held on the first and third Thursdays instead of the second and fourth Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.
Our schedule for the rest of the season will be as follows:
Thursday, March 6: The General Membership meeting will feature an oral review and critique of digital images submitted by members conducted by a panel of three judges. No scores will be given, as the critique is intended to help members understand what judges look for when judging an image in photo competitions and to receive constructive comments on how to improve an image. The membership will also vote at this meeting on a proposed name change for the club to the East Valley Photo Club.
Thursday, March 20: Competition meeting with the following categories: Open, Blue, and Monochrome or Black and White.
Thursday, April 3: General Membership meeting with guest speaker Mason Mullally who will present a program entitled “Richer Ways to Tell a Story—Mixing Images and Video.” This program was presented at the 2024 PSA Photo Festival in Tucson and was well received by attendees.
Thursday, April 17: End of Year Banquet, Competition, and Awards. The banquet this year will be catered by the Country Club staff. Our Year-End Competition consists of the best print and digital photos submitted by members in regular competitions held during the current season. From these, the judges will select a Photo of the Year in both print and digital divisions in each competition class. Awards will be presented to the Photographer of the Year for both print and digital divisions in each competition class. These awards are determined by the highest average score achieved by competitors during regular competitions held during the current season.
The Sun Lakes Camera Club meets on the first and third Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Friendship Room of Sun Lakes Country Club from October through April.
