“Music imprints itself in the brain deeper than any other human experience … Music brings back the feeling of life when nothing else can.” —Dr. Oliver Sacks
Almost everybody you know has a favorite holiday or Christmas song. That song is imprinted in your brain, and as Dr. Sacks said, it “brings back the feeling of life.” Holiday music is probably imprinted in your brain, too. When you hear your favorite Christmas carol or holiday song, you are transported to a place and time deep in your memory bank, and you get that warm, glowing feeling of memories of holidays gone by.
It is almost guaranteed that when you hear the songs of the Sun Lakes Chorale during our Holiday Concert, one or more of them will stir those feelings in you. The song can be uplifting or mystical or jazzy and upbeat. It can be cheery or spiritual or just plain fun. But it will hit you in that inner spot that waits—maybe longs for—all year for that special holiday glow.
We are once again ready (well, almost ready) to perform a wide range of holiday songs with the specific goal of reaching you, of touching you in some way, to cast over you that special glow that comes only at this time of the year. And rest assured, as you are being drawn into the spell of holiday spirit, we are also being drawn in. It is contagious and oh so wonderful, and we share it with you.
Plan to attend the Sun Lakes Holiday Concert on Dec. 7. It will again be at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. (Psst—doors open at 6:30 p.m. Come early and get a good seat.) Tickets are still $10 and can be purchased in advance from any Chorale member or on three Tuesdays, Nov. 21, Nov. 28, and Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. until noon at the entrance to Ace Hardware on Riggs Road. Tickets are available at the door, but don’t risk not being able to get a ticket if we sell out in advance.
We take this opportunity to thank you in advance for your support and to wish all of you a safe, happy, and healthy holiday season.
Sun Lakes United Methodist Church is located at 9248 E. Riggs Road, in Sun Lakes.
